History

Bargloff and Company’s roots go as far back as the 1940s operating as a small feed and farm equipment store. In 1960 Arlan Bargloff purchased the feed and farm equipment business and changed the name of ”Bargloff’s”. In 1963 the company began its association with Butler Manufacturing Company as a Butler Agri-Builder. For the next 17 years, Bargloff’s focused on the agricultural grain storage, drying, & handling equipment market which served to fuel the company’s rapid growth—often leading the state of Iowa in sales volume of Butler Agri-Products.

In 1978 Bargloff’s expanded it’s association with Butler Manufacturing Co. by becoming a CCI Buildings Dealer which diversified Company operations into the design and construction of pre-engineered metal building for the commercial, community, and industrial markets.

With the retirement of the company founders, Arlan and Jeleen Bargloff in 1990, the business was sold to a long time employee, Gene Lyster, who had been a Bargloff’s employee for 23 years. Together with his wife, Gloria, Gene incorporated the business and changed the name to Bargloff and Company. All existing employees were retained and a smooth and seamless transition occurred for both employees and business customer’s.

Under new ownership, the company benefited from the strong economy of the 1990s, experiencing rapid growth in all areas. Gene further diversified the company by becoming a Butler Roof Dealer in 1991.
